HTHY-63 Digital Motor Protection Relay Operation Instruction

I. Functions

1. This product is a digital comprehensive electric machine protector that uses a micro computer control unit (MCU).

2. Multiple protection functions such as overcurrent, undercurrent, locked rotor, locking, open phase, reverse phase, three phase unbalance protection

3. Convenient operating: all the functions can be set by operating keys.

4. Digital display of fault reason and fault current value, facilitating fault handling

5.The three phase current values can be displayed by operating the display key. Usually, only the max. current value is displayed. The percentage of actual load in the set value is displayed by digital cursor.

6. The inverse time limit characteristic or specified time characteristic can be selected according to actual need.

7. Quite strong anti-interference characteristic

8. Its display part and main body can be installed separately to facilitate the installation and operating on panel.

III. Installation and commissioning

1、 Before put into use, the protector shall be tested to see whether it can work normally through pressing the test/reset key. Meanwhile, the protector shall enter into the TEST mode, and the function key and setting key shall be pressed for functional setting of the protector.

2、 In the Test mode, upon per time of pressing the function key, the display screen will display the contents from .CHA to Sto, as shown in the table below. For altering the value of displayed function item, the setting key shall be operated to obtain required value and the function key shall be pressed for switching over to the display of next function item. After functional setting, the setting key shall be pressed in Sto function item for storing all the set values.

3The operate time can be set by time setting knob, and current set value will be displayed on the display screen.

Inverse time limit characteristic

1) The inverse time limit characteristic (Inv) shall be selected from the functional item.CHA, and the operate time shall take 600 of rated current in inverse time limit characteristic as benchmark.

2)The operate time can be set to be 0 to 60s, according to the electric machines starting time.

3) The cold state characteristic curve shall be referred to when the electric machine is being started, while the thermal state characteristic curve shall be referred to after the electric machine is started and the set time is exceeded.

Specified time characteristic

1)Specified time characteristic dEF (specified time) shall be selected from functional ite 1.CHA.

2) The time setting knob can be used for setting the electric machines start delay time.

3) The overload delay time can be set by functional item 2.dEF.

4The current setting knob can be used for setting the operating current, and the current set value will be displayed on the display screen.

1) Taking the electric machines rated current as benchmark, normally the operating current shall be set to be 110% to 115 of the electric machines load current during normal running.

2) The digital electric machine protector can be set in two current setting ranges, i.e. 05(0.5~6) and 60(5~60). When an external CT is used, the CT current transmission value shall be set by the function item 8Ct, e.g. the 8Ct function item shall be set to be “20”for 100:5 mutual inductors, and then the actual current value will be displayed on the display screen after conversion by the protector. (note: the CT ratio is set to be 10:1 for 60 type protectors at delivery, and it’s recommended not to alter it at will.)

3) The load current can be set according to the load factor displayed by cursor (normally the load factor is set to be 90%).

5 The display key can be pressed to obtain the set values of current and time as well as the actual value of three phase load currents.

1) Normally the max. current among the three phase currents is displayed on the display screen.

2) Upon per time of pressing the display key, the actual values of three phase currents, set values of load current and time will be displayed in sequence and in cycles.

3) If the display key is not pressed, the normal display state will be restored 3 to 4 seconds later.

IV. Conformation of fault reason by display screen after drop away

If any drop away, the fault reason will be displayed, flickering at intervals of 0.5s.

Upon per time of pressing the “display” key, the display screen will display the fault reason, actual 3 phase currents during fault and set value, to facilitate analysis of fault reason of electric machine.
